Why Boycott Perry?

First of all, it is HIS movie. He can cast whomever he feels will fit the part. Maybe he just wanted someone to stand there and look pretty. THAT is Kim K's specialty... Come one Black Folk... all of the things we could be boycotting and shutting down, and we choose a Tyler Perry movie. Really? You shut him down, and there goes black film... Sad, but true.
Tyler Perry's supporters use his website to read and respond to his frequent blog posts, updates and personal messages. Although comments on the page range from extreme praise to outright criticism, one person has caused a flood of angry posts within the Perry community: Kim Kardashian. The filmmaker's fans have taken to the site saying they will boycott his new movie "The Marriage Counselor" if he follows through w...

Ann Coulter: 'Our Blacks are Better than Theirs...'

WoooW... Not just a story title, she REALLY said that. As if there is a competition among "white folks" as to who has the best "blacks". Her logic is so circular though, and contains so much half-truth, that you almost fall into it.... and then she says it... "that's why our Blacks are so much better than theirs..." Reminiscent of 19th century slavery games. Whose colored can chuck wood the farthest.

Ann Coulter continued the conservative criticism of Politico for its article on Herman Cain during an appearance on Monday's "Hannity." Politico drew swift right-wing fire for its Sunday article on Cain, which alleged that two female employees had accused him of sexual harassment in the 1990s.

T.O.'s Comeback?

He didn't look great, but with age comes football intelligence. There will be a team that offers him a deal, but most likely not of the caliber he desires. The question is will he play for them and will he accept the money offered, what little it may be.
In early October, Terrell Owens announced that he would be ready to return to the NFL in a month or less. True to his word, he does appear to be ready. But is he wanted? It sure doesn't seem like it. On Tuesday, Owens' agent Drew Rosenhaus orchestrated together a personal workout for the 37-year-old wide receiver at a high school outside of Los Angeles. The NFL Network was there to cover it. ESPN's Rachel Nichols...

Anthony Conner Broken Neck: Injury Suffered

I hate to say it, but this video should be used when teaching proper tackling technique. I hope that he fully recovers, but this was horrible tackling form. Exactly what happens, when you try to make a highlight instead of a stop. Coaches take heed.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Louisville coach Charlie Strong says cornerback Anthony Conner broke his neck when his head hit the knee of Rutgers receiver Mohamed Sanu but he isn't paralyzed. Conner was carted off the field Friday night after going down on the first play of the second quarter, and team officials said a few minutes later that the senior was conscious with feeling in his extremities.

Carson Palmer: Raider Blunder or Blast-off

Unfortunately, all that this transaction did was prove just how valuable having a GM is. When Al Davis passed I think we all assumed that about 6 jobs would open up in the Raider organization, including the GM job. But with Jason Campbell's injury, everyone went into panic mode and Coach Jackson stepped up with the Palmer deal. Big time risk and a big time threat to team chemistry once Campbell comes back next year. Unless Carson can take the team deep into the playoffs, this will prove to be one of the biggest blunders in Raider history.

Gaddafi's Final Parade

I guess, as a dictator, you never really know how your people feel about you... until they are dragging your lifeless body through the streets chanting "God id Great" and celebrating your death...
Longtime dictator of Libya, Muammar Gaddafi, reportedly has been killed. Following the capture of Muammar Gaddafi's hometown of Sirte, contradictory reports emerged that Colonel Gaddafi may have been killed or captured in Libya. HBCU Blues: America's Historically Black Colleges and Universities in the 21st Century

What makes "great universities" great is a continued effort towards improvement by the faculty, students, and alumni. Perhaps the issue that HBCUs face is the fact that this is lacking. How many students in high school even know that there are 105 HBCUs? How many know that Howard and Fisk were once talked about in the same breath as Harvard and Yale? The key, as in all things, is the education of the community as to the various opportunities available regarding colleges.

Just as a point of thought for everyone, how helpful to HBCUs would it be if the states that they reside in took them on as "state" schools?
In the mid 1980s, Bill Cosby's highly popular television program, A Different World and Spike Lee's influential film School Daze promoted a complimentary image of black colleges and universities as rigorous institutions of higher learning where black students could be free to pursue the fruits of a college education in a welcoming and nurturing environment among people with the same cultural background and values. Celeb Pays It Forward, Correctly

This is beautiful. I wish more people to whom much was given would pay it back to our youth. The only jobs that will be created will be jobs that innovations in technology create. This country has to get back to making money using its brains. Much of the money that we, as a country, earn comes from patents we hold because of our Space Program.

It is truly amazing to me that politicians do not spend ANYtime fighting over investing in the future via the youth of this nation. This is the best article of the week.
Close your eyes and think about today. Think about the United States of America. Think about the state of education. Think about the state of job creation. Think about the state of mind we are in. Think about what our country might look like in 20 years. Now think about and wonder why and who and when and what it's going to take for Detroit not to turn into a slum. What is it going to take for my niece...

The convicted ringleader of detainee abuses at Abu Ghraib was released Saturday from a military prison, an Army spokeswoman said. Charles Graner Jr., 42, was released from the U.S. Disciplinary Barracks at Fort Leavenworth, Kan., around 10 a.m.

He is classless. I am sure that the US military and Intelligence community has better techniques then pyramid stacking and watching live gay prison porn to soften up war detainees. It was embarrassing then and is an embarrassment now.

Introducing HuffPost BlackVoices: Covering Black America's Split-Screen Reality

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/arianna-huffington/introducing-huffpost-blac_b_916651.html

Ms. Huff does it again. Regardless of the reasoning behind it, she has decided to tap into another market that is being ignored. Hopefully, there really is some hard-hitting news that will come to light for the masses, instead of being hidden by the Black community. Discussion is necessary for change.

And depending on what part of the screen you are looking at, you will have a very different perception of where things stand. Nowhere is this split-screen reality more pronounced than...

John Boehner Debt Ceiling Bill Faces House Vote

I'm sorry, I stopped reading after he said that "we should all be fired if we go beyond August 2nd"... music to my ears. That is the smartest thing anyone has said in 3 months. Most of the newbie republicans are a famous democratic opponent away from being axed anyway. Thank you John Boehner, your a super-genius.
WASHINGTON (AP) -- House Republicans are pressing ahead with a vote on a newly modified plan to stave off an unprecedented government default next week even though the legislation faces a White House veto threat and unanimous opposition among Senate Democrats. Bachmann's Iowa Roots?

Say what you want about the people of Iowa, but it is a hard state. It's full of down home, salt of the earth folks. I bet no one from MN even knew Bachmann was even from Iowa until someone told her she could be president... I am sure that she will have a little anecdote for every state with a major primary. She has truly set women politicians, republicans and the tea-party in general back about 15-20 years.
WASHINGTON -- When Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) announced her candidacy for president in her birthplace of Waterloo, Iowa, she played up her connection to the small city, using the words Iowa, Iowans or Waterloo more than two dozen times. She had also stressed her Iowa roots months before, during a speech in Des Moines, Iowa. But while Bachmann's quest to be seen as a native of the Hawkeye State has been a topic ...

Bob Dylan's Grandson, Pablo, Is A 15-Year-Old Rapper

Sorry Bob... your grandson ain't even as Hip-Hop as you are... Sounds like the same old watered down audio-tune rap that everyone is putting out... Nothing you would expect from a Dylan. I guess Jay-Z remains the "Bob Dylan of rap"...
At only 15 years old, young Pablo Dylan is trying his hand at the music business. In an interview with AllHipHop.com, the grandson of Bob Dylan talked having a grandfather who he considers "the Jay-Z of his time," and his new mixtape, 10 Minutes. In this track, "Top of the World," Pablo references Bob, well aware of the double-edged sword being the grandson of a legend is. However, he seems confident in his abilitie...

If the school districts continue to focus on "testing" rather than making sure that our children are actually being educated we will continue to have teachers who cheat that system. Where are the life lessons learned via studying history or art or mathematical equations? The real education of our youth will not be determined in their ability to take a test as an adult, it will be found in and demonstrated through their ability to access experiences from the past to navigate the future.

M.I.A. Releases '27,' In Honor Of Amy Winehouse, Those Who Died At 27

     http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/07/24/mia-releases-27_n_907967.html

Dear Media -

Before we continue to compare Ms. Winehouse with the likes of Hendrix, Cobain, Joplin, Basquiat, etc etc... Please list or note the comparable body of work. You cannot, because it does not exist. "Fade to Black" is no "Nevermind". STOP comparing her to legends. It is sad that the best thing writers have to say about this woman is that she died at age 27, and is now a part of some illustrious club. She was good, soulful artist who had the potential to be great, had she been able to overcome her demons. That's it. Period.

That is an irresponsible statement. How does this story reflect her arrogance? Do you think that the First family planted a story about Mrs. Obama wearing a target outfit (again), to distract the feeble minded from the fact the unemployment rate is so high that the only jobs available are in the national guard... and even they have been outsourced overseas...

Seriously...? Are we still talking about RAISING the debt limit? This is ridiculous. The is political talk about a possible bill that will be 1000s of pages long, that NO American will ever fully read, that will earmark billions of dollars for programs that 75% of this country will NEVER use. We are trying to raise the debt limit a couple of trillion? Trillion? Why? So that in 10 years they can raise it to a zillion? Come on, son... At what point do we LET IT FAIL? Major American Brands Silent on Alleged Rights Abuses At Overseas Factories

This is exactly what happens when lawmakers continue to allow imported products. It's common sense. If we import items into this country or export jobs out of it, the reason is that it is cheaper. WHY is it cheaper? The conditions are less, the pay is less, and the benefits are nil. How else does capitalism survive than through the exploitation and demoralization of labor and costs. Get a clue Congress...
